The Toronto Blue Jays matched an American League record by hitting six doubles in an inning Monday night against the New York Yankees. The Boston Braves of the National League hold the MLB record with 7 in the 1st inning of a game against the St. Louis Cardinals back in 1936. The Jays tied the 1934 Washington Senators and the 2002 Texas Rangers for most doubles in an inning by an American League ball club. That sure is a lot of doubles! Speaking of two-baggers here is list of just some of the more notable doubles in the history of baseball and beyond:
Jose and Ozzie Canseco: The not so Bash Brothers were briefly teammates during Ozzie’s 24 game career. While the more famous bro Jose helped introduce the world to steroids, Ozzie began his career as a Yankee pitcher and despite becoming an every day position player he ended it without ever going yard in the big leagues.
The Wild Samoans: These raw fish eating bad boys of the squared circle are perhaps the most dangerous duo in the history of the ring. Former three time world champions even Samoan dropped there way into the most prestigious group in pro wrestling in 2007 when they were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The Barbers: Tiki and Ronde Barber were perhaps the National Football League’s most well known two point conversion. Man that was a lame football reference, speaking of lame while Ronde became a Super Bowl winner with the Tampa Bay Bucs his identical bro Tiki continues to linger in the Today Show circuit.
Barbi Twins: They have rescued kittens and they sold a boat load of calendars dating back to the early ’90′s. Their record breaking Playboy appearances are in fact legendary according to moist…. excuse me I meant according to most self proclaimed Barbi-maniacs!
The Crimson Guard Twins: Tomax and Xamot were an integral part of the Cobra dynasty back in the heyday of G.I. Joe insanity. The identical mirror imaged bad asses appeared in both comic and cartoon form and eventually gained instant nerd-cred in 1985 when they were made into action figures.
The Wonder Twins: Let’s just say that if it weren’t for Gleek these Super friend wanna-bes would not only be left out of the Hall of Justice they would be left off this list. Somewhere the Olsen Twins weep !!!
