While there have been 44 United States Presidents only nine have been fortunate to be in office during a Yankee championship season. The Democrats hold a decisive 20-7 lead in Yankee titles. While the Republicans got off to a quick 4-0 lead behind Coolidge and Hoover, the Dems stormed past with 11 titles during FDR & Harry S Truman’s lengthy tenures.

Sorry #44! Chisox in '05, but Yanks in '09!

Current President Barack Obama may have seen a White Sox title in his lifetime, but the Yankees took the title in his first year as Prez. The Yankees suffered through EIGHT titleless years under George W. Bush. Which was preceded by four titles under Bill Clinton of the Democrats.

While Bush may have thrown a most memorable pitch at the Stadium. Yanks were ringless under his presiduncy.

At least the Orioles made the playoffs while Bubba was in office.

The Reagan and Original Bush years were also lean winning seasons for recent Republican Presidents. The totals dont lie… 1 Reagan + 2 Bush’s = 20 Republican years without a Yankee title.

The last time the Cubs won Reagan wasn't even born.

The Yankees fortune has favored the Democrats so much even great humanitarian, but not- so- great President Jimmy Carter oversaw two titles. During his single term the Yanks took titles in 1977 & 1978.

Jimmy Carter gets pointers from pitching coach Fidel Castro.

In  1961 and ’62 the Yankees homer happy squads won the World Series with JFK in office. While Kennedy may have held his own with Joe D in competition for Marilyn, his two titles pale in comparison to Dimaggio’s nine.

First pitch or the most watched paper airplane toss ever?

The last Republican President to be in office during a Bronx Bomber title team was Dwight Eisenhower. The Yankees liked IKE in 1953, ’56, and ’58.

Casey Stengel looks on as IKE tosses pitch.

Harry S had a shorter presidency, but he only trailed FDR by one Yankee title (6-5).  Who knows what would have happened if Dewey was in office?!?

Harry S! Harry S! Harry S!

The only thing to fear is a wild pitch.

Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover (related to the dam, but not the vacuum) are two of three Republican Presidents to hold office during a Yankee title. No member of the Whig party has ever held the distinction.

Walter Johnson (r.) had a better career in Washington than Hoover.

When asked why he was paid more than Coolidge, Babe Ruth famously replied, "I had a better year."

Woodrow Wilson oversaw the Black Sox scandal and the Red Sox 1918 title.

Taft threw out the first pitch and ate the first 20 hot dogs.
